Are you looking for ways to take professional looking pictures? With the ease of today’s aim and shoot cameras, more people than ever are enjoying taking pictures. If you′d like to move up to professional looking pictures, try implementing some of these tips.
1. Background is important. Before taking the picture, look at the surroundings. Sometimes moving just a tiny bit will make for a much more beautiful shot. For example, why have a trash can in the background if five feet away are beautiful flowers?
2. Does your digital camera have an option to turn the flash off? If so, consider the natural lighting available and only use the flash if you really need it. If you are outside and it′s sunny enough to read a book, you probably don’t need a flash.
Artificial lighting from a flash is very harsh on human skin. This can make your subjects look very pale. If you are indoors and it doesn’t seem light enough, try placing your subjects near a window and use the fill flash feature.
3. Instead of aiming straight at a person’s face, try aiming slightly down and a little to the side. A three quarter view taken from an angle higher than the subject has a slimming effect.
4. The focus feature is very important. It allows you to get closer to your intended subject, which will enable you to really show exactly what you intend to show in your picture.
5. It is best not to have your subject in the dead center of the photo. Having the subject a little bit off center is a much better way to go. Got a large group of people? No problem – just find the center of the group and focus just off center of that.
While you may not become a professional photographer, you and your loved ones will really appreciate your new and improved camera skills!
